History of NCSC creation
(entry from the old version of the site, first half of 2014)
"Under the influence of international networks of scientific cooperation in the mountainous regions of the world, in particular, the efforts of the UNEP project in the Caucasus, the initiative group MAB-6 the IGRAN began the formation of a network of scientific cooperation in the North Caucasus. The first step to create this network was the formation of a database containing information about the scientific community - who is who in the research of the problems of sustainable development of the North Caucasus.
To do this, the initiative group sent a short questionnaire to potential network participants and received completed questionnaires from more than 30 respondents from academic organizations and universities in the North Caucasus, Rostov-on-Don and Moscow. The questionnaire contains 18 questions, including, for example, in addition to personal data, information about work and professional interests, information about current research, an opinion on the need for a database and the exchange of information, the need for joint research and the need to create coordination bodies. All respondents emphasized the importance of such a network. In many questionnaires, ways of its organization and functioning were proposed. In particular, the need to create an information portal on the Internet as soon as possible, hold a constituent conference of participants and develop a general work plan was noted.
Geographical representation of those who responded to the questionnaire: Moscow, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Stavropol, Nalchik, Vladikavkaz, Grozny, Makhachkala, Tskhinval. Preliminary analysis of the tabular database shows a large range of scientists and opinions. Obviously, the development and use of the database will create an open discussion and information space, which is now so lacking in the North Caucasus. "
